[Interview] Down with 9oz. of Nothing

Welcome to Downtuned.
Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started?
How did you meet?
We started a year ago, when our first rehearsal occured. Internet brought us close to each other and we are thankful for that. We all were searching to create a band and play some music and now we are here and doing what we love to do.

Which are your musical influences?
Our influences are based mainly in southern rock and metal sounds. We are combining this southern style with some stoner and heavy rock attitude.  Black Sabbath is our fathers but we want to take this to some new path. We try not to be so much influenced at the end of the day and maintain our music character in.

What’s your lyrics about? What catches your interest?
Most of them are self-centred and talking about human beings that have lost their clear thought during some very problematic situations they are through. We like to enter in the mind of people and see their deeper thoughts. Addicts, loneliness, mental dissorders and more are topics that really have something to catch our interests!

Is the communication with the crowd something that you care about, in all levels, or do you do music for yourselves?
We are giving our best to communicate with EVERYBODY. We are a band that depends very much in live concerts and in our image when we are on the stage except of our music perfomance. Off course music is a subjective thing and different for everyone but every people is different too. The thing is that you have to share what you do with the same love that you creating it.

Do you feel like you’re a part of a particular “scene” in which you would like to join and contribute or you are indifferent about it?
Here in Greece we are for sure part  of the “underground music scene” but we like it. Unfortunately this scene isn't the main focus of the people in this country but there is plenty of extremely good music and musicians in there, so we must support it. Lots of music genres and bands are close to us and we are close to them so we help each other. Whatever we can contribute in any scene in the future will be a pleasant for us.

How do you imagine that the band will be in ten years from now?
If there is still the same love and passion for music that exists right now we imagine ourselves together, with much more experiences, with discography and plenty of tunes to share. At the end we imagine us with many trips outside Greece for playing in concerts with good bands and names recorded in our history book.

Which famous artist you would like to do a guest to a record of yours and why?
This is a difficult question to answer. We would prefer to give a live gig with these famous names than make a guest recording. Live perfomances are far more attractive than a studio session. Anyway except musicians guests, it would be fantastic if we could work together on our future album artwork with John Dyer Baizley from Baroness, who is a very talented person in whatever he is doing, or the intellect of Mr. Rick Rubin who is one of the biggest producers ever. What a great honor it would be...

What plans do you have for the near future?
In the near future we are mainly focused in live duties, with other, similar or not, bands so we can get our music shared and people hear it all over the country. We are planning for an EP or an album recording after the summer when we are hoping to be ready for this step.

We wish you good luck to whatever you’re doing, the epilogue is yours.
We would like to thank very much Downtuned Magazine and everyone behind it for this interview. We also want to thank anybody supports us and our music or working with us to make this happen. Stay tuned and keep your necks ready, we are coming ! Cheers!
