Welcome to Downtuned
Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started? How did you meet?
We started jammin’ in 2009 first me (Greg/guitar) and Dimitris (Drums) , we knew each other from previous projects then Alex (Vocals) came to the band and gradually we started to look like a band. Then our ex bassist Ozmo came to the band and we released a promo cd in 2012. Later, Ozmo left the band and our new bassist is Andrew we’re very glad to have him in the group. Now we’re in the studio finishing our debut album.
Which are your musical influences?
Kyuss , Wolfmother , QOTSA , Down , Led Zeppelin , Lynyrd Skynyrd and generally 70’s bands.
What’s your lyrics about? What catches your interest?
The lyrics are mainly about our experiences , about the society and the problems that we face every day.
Is the communication with the crowd something that you care about, in all levels, or do you do music for yourselves?
We care a lot about the crowd and it’s something amazing to interact with the crowd but we do music mainly for ourselves. If we do music that we don’t like it 100% we’ll never put it out.
Do you feel like you’re a part of a particular “scene” in which you would like to join and contribute or you are indifferent about it?
We think that we’re a part of the greek heavy / stoner scene, we think that the scene is getting bigger and bigger every day. We have great bands like Planet of Zeus , Potergeist , 1000Mods , Nightstalker that made huge steps and made the scene known worldwide and we have magnificent new bands that can produce really good music.
How do you imagine that the band will be in ten years from now?
With a couple of records and some touring experience.
Which famous artist you would like to do a guest to a record of yours and why?
We think that Josh Homme would be this artist. We think he’s an influential figure for the scene and for us as a band. Also, his musicianship and his incredible music taste would every song to a masterpiece.
What plans do you have for the near future?
This period we’re finishing the recordings for our debut album that will be released this year and also we’ll schedule some live acts beginning this Sunday 1/2 @ After darkmusic bar with our brothers Jaw breaker really great band.
We wish you good luck to whatever you’re doing, the epilogue is yours.
Keep on listening to and supporting the greek bands and we’re looking forward to see you in our gigs!
